Why does clay cost more?
Effluent soaks into clay slowly, so the leaching bed has to be larger, or built up on imported sand and fill (a raised bed). Much of Haldimand County and rural Glanbrook sits on the Haldimand Clay Plain, which is why raised beds are common there.
Does the estimate include the permit?
Yes for new systems and bed replacements: design, the building permit, the tank and the bed. Landscaping beyond rough grading and seeding usually is not.
