Privacy policy

What we collect and why

• Service requests: your name, phone, email, the property’s town or address, the service you need and anything you tell us about the system. Used to match your request to a contractor and to pass it to them.
• Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics records pages viewed and general device information. It does not load unless you click "Allow analytics".
• Visit counts: a first-party counter records which page a visit started on and whether a request was sent, using a random session id. No IP address or personal details are stored with it.
• Server logs: our hosting keeps standard technical logs for security, for a short period.

Who sees your request

The one contractor we match your request to. That contractor uses it to contact you and quote the job, and handles it under their own privacy practices from then on. We do not sell your information to anyone else or add you to a mailing list.

We also use service providers to run the site: our own servers for the database, Discord for internal notifications, and email delivery providers. Some store data in the United States.

How long we keep it

Requests are kept for up to 24 months so we can answer questions about them, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Email hello@septichamilton.ca and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
